The Dog Balaclava

Yarn: 100% baby alpaca. Stitch: cable knit, hand-loomed on manual flat looms. Construction: seamless, slip-on with ribbed edges. Hand-loomed and assembled in Huancayo, Peru.

The Dog Balaclava is sized to sit close to the head without pulling at the ears — snug, not tight.

Available sizes
· S — Yorkshire, Chihuahua, Toy Poodle, small teckels
· M — Miniature Poodle, Cocker, French Bulldog, standard teckels
· L — Standard Poodle, Spaniel, mid-size mixed breeds

How to measure
· Head circumference — around the widest point of the head, just in front of the ears
· Neck — where the balaclava sits at the base

If your dog falls between two sizes, choose the larger.

Care
Hand-wash cold with a mild detergent designed for wool or fine fibres — never use regular detergent, which strips the natural oils from the alpaca. Soak for no more than 10 minutes. Rinse gently. Press the water out with a towel — do not wring or twist. Lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight or heat. Reshape while damp.

Cared for this way, baby alpaca softens with every wash rather than pilling.

Store folded, not hung, with a piece of cedar to keep moths away.

Designed in Paris. Hand-loomed and assembled by our team of women artisans in Huancayo, Peru, at 4,200 metres above sea level.

Every piece is loomed on manual flat looms — machines operated entirely by hand, without electricity or automation — then assembled by hand.

Colette et Gastón works in small batches because the alternative is to make poorly.

Returns
14 days from delivery, in original condition. Knitwear that has been washed cannot be returned.
