A luxury dog balaclava, hand-knit in baby alpaca.

A luxury dog balaclava hand-knit in 100% baby alpaca — the piece we designed to go with our sweaters, and the one dogs end up wearing first.

The same cable knit as our Dog Polo Sweater, in the same three colours. Cut short, drafted to sit close to the head and cover the ears.

Because dogs get cold from the ears down.

Hand-knit in Peru. Small-batch and numbered.

Composition

The Dog Balaclava is the same considered knit as our sweaters — reduced to its essential form.

100% baby alpaca, hand-knit in Huancayo. A single continuous piece — slip-on, no closures, no seams behind the ears. The cable pattern is hand-knit, one stitch at a time — there is no machine version of this knit.

Available in Lilac, Mushroom, and Sand — the same three colours as our Dog Polo Sweater. Designed to be worn as a set, or on its own with any of our knitwear.

Materials
Yarn: 100% baby alpaca
Stitch: cable knit, hand-knit
Construction: seamless, slip-on
Finish: ribbed edges that hold their shape

Size & Fit

The fit of a luxury dog balaclava matters. It should sit close to the head without pulling at the ears — snug, not tight.

Available sizes
· S — Yorkshire, Chihuahua, Toy Poodle, small teckels
· M — Miniature Poodle, Cocker, French Bulldog, standard teckels
· L — Standard Poodle, Spaniel, mid-size mixed breeds

How to measure
· Head circumference — around the widest point of the head, just in front of the ears
· Neck — where the balaclava sits at the base

If your dog falls between two sizes, choose the larger.

Not sure? Send us your dog's measurements and breed in a DM. We answer within the day, and we would rather you order once than twice.

Care & Traceability

Care for your luxury dog balaclava

Hand-wash cold with a mild detergent designed for wool or fine fibres — never use regular detergent, which strips the natural oils from the alpaca. Soak for no more than 10 minutes. Rinse gently. Press the water out with a towel — do not wring or twist. Lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight or heat. Reshape while damp.

Cared for this way, baby alpaca softens with every wash rather than pilling. The fibre is naturally hypoallergenic, breathable, and lanolin-free — gentler than wool on a dog's skin, and on the hands of whoever washes it.

Store folded, not hung, with a piece of cedar to keep moths away. Avoid plastic bags.

Traceability

Designed in Paris. Hand-knit in Huancayo, Peru, at 4,200 metres above sea level.

The baby alpaca fibre comes from the highlands of central Peru, certified by Alpaca Mark — the international guarantee of genuine baby alpaca fibre. The fibre is from the first shearing of the alpaca, which is the softest the animal will ever produce in its life. All dyes used are azo-free and REACH compliant.

Every piece is finished by one woman in our Huancayo atelier, from start to finish.

Colette et Gastón works in small batches because the alternative is to make poorly. We do not over-produce.
