The European market for high end dog clothing is small.
Not because the customer doesn't exist — they do, in every major city, in every country where people take their dogs seriously and their wardrobes more seriously still.
But because, until recently, nothing existed that met their standard.
The options were costume or compromise. Synthetic fabrics marketed as luxury. Logos doing the work that design should do. Garments that looked acceptable in a photograph and fell apart within a season.
Colette et Gastón was built to fill that gap.
What high end means in practice
High end is not a price point.
It is a set of decisions — about material, construction, provenance, and finish — that accumulate into something that performs differently from everything around it.
For dog clothing specifically, those decisions are:
The fibre. Baby alpaca, sourced from the Peruvian highlands, hand-knit by artisans in Huancayo. A fibre with a micron count below cashmere that does not pill, does not degrade, and softens with every wash.
The construction. Hand-knit pieces with density and drape that a machine cannot replicate. Outerwear cut from bonded technical fabrics whose waterproofing is structural, not applied.
The provenance. Knitwear from Peru, where the fibre and the knowledge to work it exist in the same place. Outerwear from France, where the standard for this category of garment has been maintained for generations.
The finish. Horn buttons. Azo-free dyes. Organic cotton lining against the skin. Details that no one photographs and every dog feels.
